New York City is Magic

After going to school in New York for four years, it can be easy to forget how absolutely wonderful the city really is. Sometimes, I'll go weeks without thinking about it, and then, all of the sudden, I'll be taking the 20 minute train ride on the Metro North from the Bronx into Manhattan, and it hits me:

I live in a city where things are always happening, where Broadway is at my fingertips and some of the best food in the world could be just around the corner (including dollar pizza). I live in a city full of business, books, music and culture, where unbelievable art can be found in museums, galleries, architecture, or even just the ceiling of Grand Central Station. But most importantly, I live in a city full of incredible friends who make it feel like home.

Some city adventures remind me of all of this, and last night was one of those adventures. A few friends and I trekked into Manhattan from the Bronx on the day after the "blown out of proportion" blizzard. We were going to see the Elephant Man on Broadway and I was hoping to meet my future husband Bradley Cooper, with no such luck. The performance, however, was wonderful, and the city was cold but still so very beautiful. Wandering through the streets of New York at night has to be one of the best things in the world, made even better by the hilarious friends walking beside me.

The stunning Grand Central ceiling.

This is my adorable closest friend, Phil.

A near empty Grand Central Station is a magic that everyone needs to experience.... obviously not at the same time.

I think it should be mandatory for everyone to live in New York City at least once in their lives or, at the very least, visit. There are so many amazing cities in the world and I don't think I'll live here forever, but there's still something about New York that will always have my heart. I truly believe that it does possess a kind of magic, and this undoubtably won't be the last time I mention my love affair with the city on the blog.
