"I'm not going outside until the temperature is above my age."

I mean, woah. It literally took one hot second for this city to get super cold. I have a feeling the worst is yet to come, and as much as I would love to live my life according to the title quote, hibernating isn't always the most practical option. For this reason, I wanted to share with you tips for staying both warm and stylish. Although, I'm definitely guilty of sacrificing the latter for the former in the past.

Slightly off topic: These pictures were taken by my fabulous friend Astrid and posing for them was easily one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever done. Can you say "amateur hour?" I'm definitely not a model and most of the pictures are just me laughing. God bless Astrid for her patience and artistry because the theme of the shoot basically became, "Jesus, take the wheel."

Now back on track: I'm definitely what some might call a coat addict. The thrill I get from buying a new coat is honestly ridiculous, but if you're only going to buy one coat for the winter season, I would make two suggestions. First, make it warm. There's no sense buying a beautiful winter coat that's paper thin. Second, pick a neutral color. Keep it to black, tan or even white. White is especially nice if you want to look like Olivia Pope and don't care about the inevitable increased dry cleaning bill. Neutrals in general are also just so much more versatile when it comes to styling and offer a clean and polished look always.

I love the gold detailing of this asymmetrical Michael Kors coat. It's so classic and the belt gives it a really nice structure. It's also currently on sale which is always a plus!

When it's cold, it's hard to show off your outfit, which is why it's all about the details. Jewelry is a great way to style any cold weather outfit. The necklace I'm wearing was a gift from my sister and I'm obsessed. The coordinates are New York City.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem of a street when looking for places to shoot!

To keep neutrals from being boring, pops of color are essential, which is why I added a bright hat and lipstick

P.S. This is Astrid. She's perfect.
